Systems and Project Accountant

Systems and Project Accountant responsibilities include...

What you will do:

  • Assist with systems and process design
  • Ascertain and document user requirements
  • Apply robust project management disciplines and methodologies
  • Help coordinate a number of project activities including training and UAT
  • Work closely with IT and the suppliers to deliver quality high performing systems
  • Assist with business intelligence and help design system reports
  • Ensure users supported to resolve issues via a business systems helpdesk
  • Ensure new and existing users receive adequate systems training
  • Ensure systems procedures and training manuals are effectively used and kept up to date for any new developments and operational changes
  • Ensure system prices are accurate and checked daily  (scrubbed) to independent price sources
  • Ensure other market  data in the system is accurate and up to date
  • Set up new entities and new business on the systems
  • Liaise with IT on data feed and technical issues
  • Proactively identify areas for improvements within the team, and drive forward projects on own initiative, to a successful conclusion, by using influencing skills and engaging confidently with the rest of the business
  • Manage ad-hoc projects on behalf of the operation
  • Manage and coordinate internal systems audit visits
  • Work closely with the accounting teams & IT on key projects, and assist with coordination of user acceptance testing
  • To critically examine existing processes suggesting areas where efficiency can be improved, risk reduced and ways of achieving this.
  • Design and implement solutions to eliminate such issues effectively across the business and ensure the results of these are monitored and recorded.
  • Contribute via projects and change initiatives to the development of robust, scalable and cost-efficient operating models and a strong control environment.
  • To support Management as required, including producing project documentation to CAS standards including Terms of Reference, plans, status reports, risks and issues logs.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, regularly checking to ensure all details are correct, identifying errors and taking the necessary corrective action promptly according to priority and procedure.
  • Take responsibility for setting high standards and focusing on delivery in a time conscious manner. This includes the appropriate and timely escalation of issues, and management of their resolution, in line with existing policies.

Systems and Project Accountant requirements include...

Your experience will include:

  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA)
  • Strong Project Management experience (either project manager or of being a key member of a project team)
  • Financial services funds industry background would be an advantage
  • Previous experience of portfolio administration, including the lifecycles of equities, bonds, derivatives, real assets or other underlying portfolio financial instruments
  • Dealing with external service providers (e.g. supplier management)
  • Previous experience of communicating directly  with senior management and project steering committees
  • Business intelligence and systems report development (e.g. SAP Crystal, Microsoft report Builder)
  • Excel macros and data management tools
  • Knowledge of fund accounting systems, especially Real Estate and or Private Equity fund accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of Xceptor Data Hub data management solution (or similar products)
  • Other Microsoft packages such as MS Visio & MS Project
