Our client is seeking an experienced Software Team Leader to join their team. Based across the company’s London and Exeter offices, the successful candidate will lead a technical team and provide technical leadership in order to allow the team to develop new technical solutions and working practices in line with the company’s business goals. The successful candidate will line manage and coach the department’s software developers in a hands-on capacity (primarily using .NET stack), aiming to improve the efficiency and quality of the software developer team outputs. 

Software Team Leader responsibilities include...

  • To lead the design and development of software and systems while managing resources in line with costs, plans, and budgets
  • To track progress of the development of software and systems and drive continual improvement in development activity
  • To work closely with other company departments to plan and prioritise workloads
  • To ensure that the software developer team are appropriately trained: providing mentoring, guidance, and training in engineering principles that underlie good software development
  • To ensure that the team’s workload is managed appropriately, ensuring that work outputs are both achievable and predictable
  • To regularly travel between the company’s London and Exeter offices to manage co-located teams.

Candidates must have experience of coding in a development team in a hands-on capacity, and must have experience at team lead or technical architect level.  Our client is seeking a software team leader who is hardworking and a motivated self-starter with a passion for success, who can communicate effectively at all levels. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal, management, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the strength of character to build and maintain trusted engineering practices under commercial pressure to deliver results in a timely manner.

 

Technical experience required:

  • Thorough experience of developing enterprise and desktop systems in C#
  • Experience using HTML5 and modern JavaScript libraries
  • Experience using relational and NoSQL databases
  • Good working knowledge of SQL server
  • Technical working practices such as:
    • BDD
    • TDD
    • Test Automation
    • Continuous Integration/delivery
