We have a 9 month fixed term contract for a Senior HR Adviser for a organisation based in Exeter. This role will proactively support the provision of a professional and businesses focused generalist HR service to employees and managers. Developing and maintaining successful and effective working relationships, the successful candidate will line manage the Human Resources Administrator and help meet the operational plan objectives for Human Resources.

Senior HR Adviser – 9 month FTC responsibilities include...

General Requirements

o   To identify issues and develop solutions that will address/resolve problems

o   To provide pragmatic advice to Managers with regard to employment legislation, pay and conditions of service, discipline and grievance issues, sickness and absenteeism,  general staffing issues, recruitment and retention

o   To develop and maintain effective working relationships

o   To liase with the Head of People

o   To review current policies and practices and where appropriate amend existing or prepare new ones

o   To operate as HR lead on specific subject areas

o   To develop Line Managers people management capabilities

o   To review quality standards within HR

o   To participate as a Senior Member of the Human Resources team

o   To maintain documentation on personal files, employee records and filing systems

Employer Relations

o   To promote best practice and maintain active contact with Personnel Network Groups

o   To manage individual cases

o   To take the lead role with all arrangements required within individual cases

Employer Reward

o   To ensure al pay and benefits are administered as required to appropriate staff

o   To manage the pension process


o   To manage recruitment and the selection process

o   To monitor the advertising process, ensuring optimal coverage

Training and Development

o   To plan and facilitate training workshops for line-managers

o   To identify training needs in a creative and innovative manner


o   To take the lead on a computerised personnel system

o   To implement procedures through the computerised personnel system with regard to absence, turnover, age, gender, profiles and equal opportunities monitoring.

o   Administration of sick leave and absence monitoring procedures, new starter procedures,

o   Authorisation of salary payments

o   Maintenance of confidential records

o   Preparation of monthly reports

Senior HR Adviser – 9 month FTC requirements include...

·         CIPD qualified to Level 7

·         Significant experience of working as a Senior HR Advisor

·         Experience of assisting in change within an organisation

·         A good knowledge and understanding of current employee legislation

·         Excellent interpersonal skills

·         Experience of leading with arrangements on the termination of employment – including redundancy, retirement, dismissals and contract expiry

·         Proven ability to make decisions under pressure
