A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Sales Manager to join an expanding Exeter based family owned business that operate within the aerospace, defence and oil and gas sectors. Following a period of growth, they are now looking to recruit a commercially focused Sales Manager to drive sales and manage existing OEM high value accounts.

Sales Manager (Engineering) responsibilities include...

This is a brand new role which will focus predominately towards new business development. The appointed candidate will be expected to split their time between the organisations Exeter Head Office and visiting customers throughout the UK.

Key responsibilities within the role include:

  • To target and build strong working relationships with OEM’s operating within the aerospace, defence, nuclear, oil and gas sectors and other applicable engineering sectors.
  • To build strong internal working relationships with Production Managers and in-house production teams.
  • To research, explore and investigate new markets with which target. This will include establishing demand levels for this organisations service offering.
  • To take responsibility for a small internal sales team. This will include giving any necessary sales training and coaching.
  • To network within existing customer accounts with the aim of growing the revenues generated from these accounts
  • To visit customers on a regular basis but also co-ordinate customer site visits when required
  • To attend industry specific events in order to build contacts
  • To actively look to win and secure new contracts through adopting a consultative sales approach
  • To liaise with the senior management team and have input into the organisations future commercial strategy
  • To work closely with existing sales team and ensure that excellent levels of customer service are offered at all times.

Sales Manager (Engineering) requirements include...

Candidates interested in the role will need to have previous technical sales experience and must have a proven track record of selling into engineering and/or manufacturing companies. All applicants must be highly commercial and have the ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level. Candidates will need to possess fantastic communication skills and be able to work well in both a team and autonomous environments. It would be highly advantageous for applicants to have had previous experience of working within the aerospace / defence and/or oil and gas sectors. All applicants will need to be ambitious, driven have a self-starting attitude. It would be highly desirable for applicants to possess an understanding of modern day manufacturing and engineering processes.
