Cathedral Appointments are currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer for a client based in Newton Abbot, Devon. The client is a market leader in the manufacturing of precision metal parts and they require a Quality Engineer to take full responsibility for the company’s supplier quality. The Quality Engineer will work alongside the existing supply chain and company’s suppliers in driving continuous improvement by developing quality assurance plans and driving a zero-defect mentality throughout the company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with purchasing team to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and monitored
  • Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting quality requirements.
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate non‐conformances.
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.

Quality Engineer requirements include...

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams.
  • Minimum HNC level qualification or equivalent in a relevant technical
  • 4 years related experience and/or training in manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability in latest problem solving techniques and knowledge of various quality system methodologies.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to travel, including abroad.
  • Assist in the qualification of new sub-tier suppliers & vendors.
  • High level of numeracy, literacy and computer skills.
