Cathedral Appointments are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant to join an organisation based in Kingsbridge. This is a full-time, permanent position, which would be suitable for someone with a purchasing or strong administrative background who is looking to work locally. Due to the nature of the role, you must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Purchasing Assistant responsibilities include...

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Receiving incoming orders and monitoring email accounts though a web-based customer support software programme
  • Checking orders to determine key information is supplied and all ordering fields are completed -  liaising with relevant staff
  • Inputting orders on to the financial system
  • Dispatching orders to suppliers
  • Monitoring and tracking orders/checking suppliers and delivery times
  • Reporting (via the customer support software) order status for staff
  • Placing charge card orders including booking of train tickets, travel and accommodation requests
  • Booking CPD courses including– liaising with course provider, minibus driving lessons including medicals/ tests and first aid courses
  • Dealing with order queries
  • Ensuring deliveries are co-ordinated and are distributed accordingly
  • Generating Good Received Notes (GRN) where necessary
  • To organise and label stock for distribution. Co-ordinating with premises teams to ensure timely delivery
  • To contact suppliers to arrange return/and or replacement of goods.
  • To organise the replacement of damaged items: and/or credit
  • Booking courier services
  • To be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate

Purchasing Assistant requirements include...

Background & Skills:

  • Experience of working as a Purchasing Assistant within a commercial environment is highly desirable, but not essential
  • GCSEs in English and Maths, minimum C grade
  • Excellent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and online data systems
  • Data input experience
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confident telephone manner and a team player
