A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Media Department of a leading North Devon marketing agency for a Press Planner/Buyer to join their team. The main purpose of the role is to centrally negotiate the Agency’s press spend, run and coordinate client accounts, and manage the delivery of strategy. The successful candidate will be familiar with all of the major publishing houses, and will have experience in media planning (either Direct Response or brand campaigns across both offline and possibly online media). 

Press Planner/Buyer responsibilities include...

  • Negotiate and deliver excellent, market beating print buying rates
  • Identify creative and innovative bespoke media opportunities
  • Plan and negotiate creative cross-media partnerships
  • Supply financial forecast and budget updates to the Media Director
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with media owners, resolving any problems and gathering market intelligence
  • Act as the first point of contact for short-term press space
  • Ensure the smooth running of campaigns, and resolving any media owner issues in a speedy manner: providing reports on the delivery of campaigns
  • Develop client business, products, markets, and audiences
  • Identifying solutions to the client’s business challenges: Develop appropriate strategic or tactical solutions, developing upon the briefed communications objectives
  • Develop and manage robust campaign reporting to drive learning and demonstrate effectives and ROI performance 

Press Planner/Buyer requirements include...

Applicants should possess and excellent understanding of all media channels (particularly print), and will have experience in planning and negotiating print campaigns: additional experience in planning other media would be desirable. An excellent understanding of the industry and modern practices is essential.
