Portfolio Research Manager

Summary of Position

Portfolio Manager required by our Exeter based client who are one of the South West’s largest independent accountancy practices.  Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning your focus will be to support the team of Financial Planners in providing suitable investment solutions for clients and ensuring that these are implemented effectively. This position will be part of the commentary team for investment reviews and market movement.

Main Duties

As Portfolio Manager your main duties will include: -

  • Carrying out fund research and selection
  • Preparing investment committee reports
  • Conducting DFM performance analysis
  • Conducting platform research
  • Creating bespoke client portfolios
  • Maintaining dealing spreadsheet
  • Implementing dealing instructions
  • Monitoring platform and SIPP cash balances
  • Processing DFM valuation reports
  • Carry out CGT reviews and prepare suitable recommendations
  • Maintain investment process documentation
  • Draft market commentaries.
  • Attend client meetings as required


Portfolio Research Manager requirements include...

As Portfolio Manager you will offer the following qualifications & experience:

  • CISI Level 4 Investment Management Qualification
  • CII Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning - desirable - but not essential
  • CII Level 6 or CISI 7 Longer term plan as desirable but not essential
  • Experience of implementing dealing instruction, managing platform cash balances and portfolio analysis is required.
  • Highly accurate numerical skills and the ability to effectively communicate to people at all levels is also essential. 

This role could suit a Paraplanner who is looking for a more investment focused role. Our client is open minded on either CISI or CII qualification, however a minimum of CII level 4 is required for this role.
