Our client is seeking a PHP Developer to join a growing business in the South West. The role is diverse and challenging, requiring an individual who has in-depth experience and knowledge of application development. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing server administration of the application built by the company’s back and front end teams, requiring solid PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills to successfully build PHP applications and develop our in-house product offering. 

PHP Developer responsibilities include...

  • To develop and improve in-house product suite
  • To monitor and test existing platforms and improve service speed and the quality of current applications
  • To write clean, standards complaint secure code
  • To provide consultation to other departments for solution design
  • To attend meetings that will review/guide performance (including appraisals), to share ideas and initiatives, and communicate objectives and agree plans/focus 

PHP Developer requirements include...

Applicants should have at least 3 years of PHP experience, front-end and back-end skills, and should possess excellent understanding of web technologies. Additionally, applicants should be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of application architecture. The successful candidate will ideally have strong experience of developing database-driven applications, will have exposure to responsive design, some understanding of email and SMS broadcast technology, and will have experience of working with high volume / capacity application.

Applicants should be able to self-organise and prioritise workload and should be educated to degree level in a technical field, or will have related experience or equivalent education/training. Applicants should have a passion for web application technology and design and will be a team player.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of Linux with ssh/bash
  • Understanding of open source web server technology and configuration
  • Excellent MYSQL skills
  • Excellent knowledge of PHP
  • Agile environment experience
