Cathedral Appointments are seeking a Human Resources Advisor on a Part-time basis (28 hours p/w) to provide interactive, accurate, and efficient HR and advise to line managers at a charity in Exeter. The successful candidate will work within the HR team to provide a proactive, professional, and high quality HR service throughout the charity to meet customer needs and organisational objectives. 

Part Time Human Resources Advisor responsibilities include...

  • Providing day to day advise and guidance to managers on all employee relation matters and staffing issues
  • To attend formal employee relation meetings with managers
  • To provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to staff
  • To manage and progress all disciplinary, grievance, attendance, and capability cases with managers and conclusions.
  • To review, design, and re-write HR policies, procedures and tools
  • To train managers in new policies, procedures, and tools to ensure best practice
  • To assist with the production of management reports when required
  • To assist with general admin duties within the HR office as required
  • To manage the induction process
  • To act as an ambassador for HR and company values
  • To travel to company sites across Devon and Dorset for of meetings, training, and induction purposes

Part Time Human Resources Advisor requirements include...

Candidates should be CIPD Level 7 qualified or equivalent, and should be educated to at least secondary level. A ECDL in Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent, and on-going continuous professional development, along with experience of working in the drug and alcohol sector is desirable, but not essential.

Key Skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience in successful management of all employee relation issues and in leading investigations and writing reports
  • Chairing, coaching, and supporting experience in hearings
  • Experience of developing new policies and procedures, and the critical review of current documentation
  • Proven training experience in employee relations and all HR procedures
  • Ability to work to deadlines, use and maintain the HR database, interpret and use the company HR policy, and to draft issuing contracts of employment and offer letters 
  • An empathetic attitude, with the ability to confidently negotiate and persuade with great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service, time management, and planning and organisation skills, with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to prioritise a heavy workload, work on one’s own initiative, and remain calm under pressure
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel Outlook, and PowerPoint 

This is a wonderful opportunity for a HR advisor to join a friendly charity in Exeter. Candidates must have access to a vehicle and meet DBS and Prison Vetting requirements. This contract is fixed-term until 31 March 2017, with review.
