A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to work for one of the South West’s most highly regarded law firms to support their Client Services Solicitor in dealing with and administering the firm's Complaints or Claims.

Paralegal - Client Services responsibilities include...

Main responsibilities

  • Reviewing and considering new allegations of negligence/service complaints.
  • Liaising with Client Services Solicitor and Claims Partner for guidance where necessary and with relevant lawyer(s) to investigate further.
  • Taking complaint calls - liaising directly with clients who wish to complain – noting details by phone when new complaint is made – explaining complaints handling process and assuring matter will be investigated/apologising etc.
  • Dealing with own caseload of service complaints
  • Considering next steps and preparing appropriate responses
  • Dealing with any subsequent queries from client or Legal Ombudsman (LeO) if matter referred to it to finally resolve
  • Updating Team leaders – dealing with initial response to client/solicitors with guidance from Client Services Solicitor /lawyer or litigation team
  • Updating systems to ensure matters are progressed in a timely manner, insurers are regularly

Paralegal - Client Services requirements include...

You must have/develop:

  • Knowledge of Client Services procedures and the ability to apply them.
  • An understanding of working within Codes of Conduct/Regulatory processes.
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills including telephone manner and complaints handling.
  • Excellent written skills and the ability to explain complex problems or issues in a manner which is appropriate for the audience to understand.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to make effective decisions using sound judgement.
  • The ability to use effectively modern IT equipment especially use of spreadsheets and databases.
  • The ability to produce work of high quality and accuracy.
  • The ability to undertake research and produce required reports.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and to prioritise effectively
