This is very much a forward-thinking business and as such, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the newest technologies available. They are now looking for an Oracle Engineer to expand their team of leading IT and technical professionals.

Oracle Engineer responsibilities include...

  • Application support – supporting application related database, forms or report issues, and escalating repeating incidents to appropriate teams.
  • Development – working on various projects including taking part in the design, programming and release phases, looking for opportunities to improve and innovate functionalities, conduct development and implementation tasks for the business systems and troubleshoot any problems.
  • Database administration – assist with basic DBA procedures including backup, data processing, performance monitoring and troubleshooting and work with other members of the team to streamline and automate process.
  • Research and development – undertake investigations into technologies, practices and methodologies outside of the normal stack and attend training and seminars as/when required.
  • Knowledge transfer and operations transition – transfer and document technical support procedures and activities, track progress and ascertain improvements needed in code/change deployment and support activities and work with colleagues to drive business and technical improvements.
  • Support and add to new functionalities of existing Oracle and APEX forms, Oracle and Adobe Livecycle reports

Oracle Engineer requirements include...


  • At least 3 years’ experience in Oracle database development
  • Experience/knowledge of Oracle and APEX forms, Oracle and Adobe LiveCycle reports
  • Use/understanding/exposure of PL-SQL programming language
  • Ability to understand user requirements and translate into technical solutions
  • Experience of MS SQL database
  • Experience of providing 3rd line helpdesk style technical support to internal and external users

To be considered for this role, you must have proven experience working with large Oracle databases, be familiar with PL-SQL code and be able to maintain Oracle objects such as packages and jobs. Knowledge of SQL Server based development, Oracle Spatial and SAP Business Objects would also be beneficial. It would be advantageous if you have the ability to optimise user functionalities and objects within the Oracle database.
