Cathedral Appointments is recruiting for a unique opportunity as Administration and Business Operations Manager for a fast-growing Exeter based business. Working with the MD and Management team, the Operations Manager / Office Manager is responsible for managing the administrative, operational and team activities that facilitate the smooth running of the business.

This is a varied and busy role which will enable the successful person to be involved in all aspects of the day to day operation of the business, and a flexible ‘can-do’ approach is essential. Very much a team player, you will lead by example demonstrating a positive mindset, manage the workflow and day to day support of the small team and oversee the wider operational aspects of the business.  Your role will span everything from team supervision, HR and Recruitment, Health and Safety, process implementation, training and induction and everything else in between! No two days will be the same – from managing the overall office administration functions, processing customer orders, implementing new systems, recruiting new team members or trouble shooting in times of crisis - you will need to be adaptable and flexible, ready to take on whatever challenges the day presents.

Administration and Business Operations Manager responsibilities include...

  • Day to day line management of a small team, understand their roles, support and reassign work as necessary and be able to step in to cover in times of need
  • Delegating work to staff and managing their workload and output
  • Carrying out staff appraisals, managing performance and guiding as needed
  • Overseeing the recruitment of new staff, including training and induction
  • Ensuring adequate staff levels to cover for absences and peaks in workload
  • Establish and develop office and operational processes and structures
  • Reviewing and updating health and safety policies and ensure they are observed
  • Extensive use of a range of office software, including Outlook, Excel and SAP
  • Daily liaison with customers and suppliers, both in writing and over the phone
  • Responding to customer enquiries and complaints
  • General office management including stationary, equipment, repairs, and regular safety tests
  • Recording office expenditure and managing the budget
  • Writing reports for senior management and delivering presentations
  • Organising and auditing the company's systems, databases, and procedures
  • Negotiating and managing insurance contracts

Administration and Business Operations Manager requirements include...

·        Previous experience in line managing other team members is essential

·        Previous office management or operations management experience is also required to demonstrate an understanding of what this role will entail

·        Prior commercial management experience within a logistical setting, production or manufacturing industry would be of particular interest

·        Reliable and adaptable, resilient and confident

·        Excellent interpersonal skills, a skilled communicator who can motivate others, resolve issues or liaise with customers at every level and in every scenario

·        Strong organisational skills, a competent administrator with demonstrable office management or senior level administrative experience

·        The team here are fun, passionate and highly committed, and cultural fit is critical

·        Proficient IT skills including Excel, Outlook and ideally SAP

This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished administration manager/ operations manager/ office manager to assume a high level of responsibility within a small and highly successful team. A demonstrable background in a similar role is essential, coupled with solid IT literacy, polished communication skills and a great work ethic.

The salary is negotiable however as a guide £30000 - £35000 pa DOE.
