The Company – My client is a specialist manufacturing company, highly regarded in their industry for the innovative and quality of products that they design and manufacturer, something which they have been doing successfully for over 30 years. This position of Operations Manager is instrumental in the next step of profitable growth for my client, enabling them to efficiently utilise and expand their modern manufacturing facility which is renowned for manufacturing award winning products.

The Role - As Operations Manager the main focus will be to manage all manufacturing aspects of Site Operations as well oversee quality and health and safety for the site. You will be tasked with building on the operational processes, ensuring that they are in place to meet growing demand.

Through the management of the production team and working closely with all members of the management team, your day to day accountabilities will include: -

  • Managing and leading the multi disciplinary production team to ensure production targets are met.
  • Build on the lean structure currently in place, implementing improvement programmes and projects, ensuring they are continuously monitored.
  • New product project lead.
  • Developing, motivating and training the production team in order to meet objectives.
  • Building and maintaining a strong supplier network.
  • Ensure all production is meeting health & safety, quality and environmental standards.
  • Improving efficiencies and processes to reduce lead times and reduce cost.

The successful candidate will offer the following : -

  • Ideally educated to Degree level within an engineering/business discipline.
  • A proven track record of working within a senior management position within manufacturing where you have shown the ability to motivate and manage others whilst still offering a ‘hands on’ approach when required.
  • Previous experience of implementing change and challenging the status quo in order to move a business forward. Ideally using the latest continuous improvement techniques including Kaizan, 5s and Six Sigma.
  • Possess a proactive and methodical approach and have strong and confident people management skills that inspire and motivate others.

This is a highly challenging role that requires a leading manufacturing professional to go in and hit the ground running and focus on motivating the production team and providing them with the tools to meet business objectives. This position will suit a candidate who understands the manufacturing and operational challenges that a small growing business faces and who is able to drive these forward to meet customer demand.
