Cathedral Appointments are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer for one of our well established, market leading clients based in Exeter. The client is happy to review CV’s of all experience levels and this position would suit both recent graduates or time-served Mechanical Engineers, providing they have the relevant experience and knowledge with Solidworks.

The successful candidate will join a small design team, assisting in the production of product design drawings and the continuous improvement of existing products. You’ll be involved in all aspects of product design from initial 3D modelling of concepts through to detailed design for production and launch. 

Mechanical Design Engineer responsibilities include...

Main job responsibilities include:

- Create design documentation, including detailed design drawings, BoMs, calculations, documentation and reports etc.

- Interface with the production/assembly process, taking an active role to support the production engineers.

- Create product technical files.

- Re-design of existing products for improvements.

- Customise existing product(s) for a customer with specific needs and requirement for a sizeable number of units.

- Design and development of 3D & 2D designs, production of manufacturing drawings to recognised standards.

- Production of BoMs, calculations and technical reports.

- Solve design-related manufacturing issues by working with the production/manufacturing engineers.

- Assist with R&D design-related issues.

This is a full-time Monday to Friday, 8.00 – 17.30 role with a competitive salary on offer. This position is offering great progression opportunities and could be perfect for a new graduate to develop their skills and experience.
