We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join the highly regarded and fast expanding Litigation department of one of Exeter’s busiest law offices.

This role would suit someone who has obtained a law degree, has completed the Legal Practice Course, is a member of the National Association of Licensed Paralegals or is qualified or part-qualified with CILEx and is keen to pursue and develop their career with a successful law firm.

We are seeking a motivated, client focused individual who is looking for a new and challenging opportunity and who ideally has a broad range of legal experience gained from working within a litigation environment.

Litigation Paralegal responsibilities include...

  • Administration including filing, arranging meetings, telephone communication and billing, etc.
  • File creation, management and file closing.
  • Generation of appropriate client care correspondence.
  • Drafting witness statements and pleadings
  • Drafting and proofreading documents, including the preparation of attendance notes.
  • Preparing trial/mediation bundles.
  • Attending Court with client and Counsel as required.
  • Attending routine directions/interlocutory hearings.
  • Case progression.
  • Carrying out and co-ordinating legal research.
  • The Paralegal is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative whilst delivering outstanding client service and seeking to protect their clients’ interests at all times while taking precautions against potential fraud and money laundering.

Litigation Paralegal requirements include...

  • Have experience of working within the legal services profession, preferably in the litigation sector.
  • Have experience of managing their own workload effectively, particularly in a pressurised environment.
  • Have a high standard of general education.
  • Possess excellent client care skills.
  • Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Be an effective communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and other professional contacts and agencies.
  • Be able to respond appropriately to changing priorities and deadlines and to remain calm in demanding situations.
  • Have general office administration experience.
  • Enjoy working in a culture that is highly focused but friendly and supportive.
