IT Training and Support Officer to identify, develop, and deliver team training to a charity based in Exeter raise its productivity levels through more efficient and effective use of ICT and software resources. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying where new or alternative ICT solutions might deliver greater or more cost effective productivity, and will assist the IT, Data, and Compliance Manager in researching and preparing recommendations for change to the Senior Leadership Team.  

IT Training and Support Officer responsibilities include...

  • To assist the IT, Data, and Compliance Manager with identifying ICT knowledge deficiencies that might adversely impact charity’s productivity or data security and potential ICT training options that would address these
  • To plan, organise, and deliver a range of ICT training courses to meet the needs of staff with a diverse range of knowledge and ability and adapt to changing requirements
  • To train employees and interpret ICT terminology for people who are not familiar with technological language using good interpersonal skills
  • To use creativity and imagination to ensure training is accessible and enjoyable
  • To collate information from different sources and summarise it with reports and briefings
  • In consultation with the IT, Data and Compliance Manager, to develop and deliver an annual training plan, incorporating 1-2-1, team and group sessions, to ensure all staff receive ICT training in line with their roles
  • To provide guidance to the HR Officer to assist with screening candidates for ICT skills required for vacancies
  • Provide first line support for ‘simple fix’ ICT issues in liaison with their IT suppliers

IT Training and Support Officer requirements include...

Applicants must have significant and recent experience delivering ICT training to employees who have a diverse range of ICT knowledge and experience. Applicants should be an Advanced practitioner of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, have a good working knowledge of Office 365/SharePoint, and have good knowledge of Windows 7 & 10. Candidates must be able to collate information from various sources and summarise it with reports and briefings, and able to plan, organise and deliver a range of ICT training courses. In addition, applicants must have demonstrable experience of producing training packages using a range of media including:

  • Written guidance / instruction
  • E learning
  • Presentation to groups
  • 1-2-1 coaching via video link or / remote access / over the telephone.

Applicants must have a nationally recognised ‘ICT Professional’ qualification at level 3 or above. Applicants with an additional teaching Qualification (PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd, C&G 7407) are particularly welcomed.
