Cathedral Appointments are seeking an experienced HR Officer for a 3-month temporary role for an organisation in Newton Abbot. The purpose of this role is to work within the HR team to deliver a comprehensive, efficient and robust Human Resources service. This varied role will cover all aspects of HR, including restructuring, discipline, absence management and grievance. 

HR Officer responsibilities include...

  • Create Human Resource guidance documents to provide a comprehensive range of guidance to line managers, reviewing these in line with changes in employment law
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Staff Handbook
  • Provide managers with advice and assist in handling individual cases of discipline, grievance and absence management.
  • Assist in gathering information requested through Freedom of Information requests.
  • Draft reports when required by managers

HR Officer requirements include...

  • Sound experience of developing and maintaining HR policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK employment law
  • Ideally Level 5 CIPD qualified or experience of working at an equivalent level
  • Rounded, up to date knowledge of good HR practice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Comfortable with all aspects of Microsoft Office

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to progress their career in a large organisation. The successful candidate will gain exposure to all aspects of HR in a complex structure, with opportunities for training and development.

This is a full time position however the business may be able to accommodate a 4 day working week or flexible working for the successful candidate.
