HR Advisor

Cathedral Appointments are seeking an experienced HR Advisor for our highly successful Exeter-based client. This is a newly created position that has arisen due to business growth and an increase in headcount. The purpose of this role is to take responsibility for all aspects of the HR function, providing expert advice to line managers and supporting Senior Management when required.

HR Advisor responsibilities include...

  • Act as a point of contact for line managers and employees on matter such as employment law, employee relations and internal policies
  • Coach and assist line managers in dealing with sensitive issues, resolving problems before they escalate
  • Assist with managing the recruitment process of temporary and permanent staff – from job design, recruitment, selection, offer and induction.
  • Deal with absence management and occupational health issues
  • Assist with appraisals, review processes and identify training solutions
  • Resolve minor problems and grievances
  • Manage the implementation of discipline and dismissal procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Take responsibility for various administrative duties, such as new-starters, contracts and pro-forma requests

HR Advisor requirements include...

  • Level 3 CIPD qualification is essential, Level 5 is highly advantageous
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in a similar role, with at least three years HR experience
  • A sound, working knowledge of UK employment law, HR practice and procedures
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior management
  • Good IT skills – particularly in Word, Excel and Access
