Cathedral Appointments is recruiting for a HR Advisor to join a well-established Exeter-based organisation on a 12-month maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will work in a small team, providing pragmatic and sound HR advice to managers and employees. Previous experience of working in a multi-site, operational role would be an advantage, as will the proven ability to coach and influence managers at all levels. The role will give you exposure to trade unions, complex case management and organisational change projects, along with the normal employee relations activities. HR Advisor responsibilities include...

  • Provide practical guidance and support to line managers and employees, ensuring good practice is observed and compliance to HR policies
  • Support managers and supervisors to find solutions to issues and conflict issues at an early stage, ideally without recourse to formal procedures
  • Working closely with the managers in employee relations matters, which will involve liaison with staff council and trade union representatives to resolve issues as appropriate
  • Assist line managers with recruitment and selection to enable managers to make effective selection decisions.
  • Work with managers and supervisors on recruitment assignments to advise and take an active role in short listing, interviewing, selection centres and the use of appropriate assessment tools
  • Assist in the design, management and coordination of internal restructure projects as and when required

HR Advisor requirements include...

  • CIPD Qualified or part qualified and actively working towards the full qualification
  • Experience working as an HR Advisor
  • Experience of case management, including disciplinary, grievance, performance and occupational health cases
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law
  • Confident verbal and written communicator, able to influence employees at all levels
  • Computer literate with all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Full driving license and able to occasionally travel to locations across the South West.

Reporting directly to the HR Manager, the post holder will come from a strong Generalist background with a particular emphasis on Employee Relations and Case Management. If you have the skills and experience required and you are available to start immediately, please send us your CV.
