Job Summary:

The Foundry Operations Manager will be responsible organisation and management of all manufacturing functions relating to the Foundry and the resources available to these, in a safe, efficient and effective manner, ensuring that they constructively support the objectives of the business on an ongoing basis.

Job Responsibilities:

· Labour planning to maintain departmental effectiveness.

· Maintaining operating compliance with current, relevant health and safety legislation and Company policy.

· Contribute to the selection of new recruits through interview and other techniques.

· Identify and implement the training / development of employees.

· Maintain appropriate standards of communication with others both internally and externally.

· Liaise with other departments and individuals within the business as appropriate attending and contributing to business meetings as required.

· Develop a TPM system and ensure engineering adherence to TPM schedules as required.

· Manage the flow, handling and storage of materials through and within the department.

· Understand methods of analysis and interpretation of measurement and analysis.

· Monitoring and managing team performance as appropriate.

· Understand and implement as appropriate, lean manufacturing and management concepts

and principles.

· Using data and information to direct continuous improvement.

Requires Skills and Experience

 

The Foundry Operations Manager must be competent in foundry techniques, have previous experience in aluminium gravity die casting, greensand and air set sandcasting.

A Degree in Metallurgy or an equivalent Foundry Studies qualification with relevant proven practical foundry experience is also required along with a minimum of 5 years’ practical experience within a methods/metallurgical position.

Ability to work within a fast-paced environment as part of team managing numerous projects technically is essential for this challenging position.
