Financial Controller responsibilities include...

Primary Job Role

  • To maintain the day to day finance and administrative systems
  • To ensure excellent support and service to our customers, suppliers and associates
  • To ensure efficient communication between departments
  • To make available financial and relevant management information and other data as required

Specfic Job Responsibilities:

  • Analysing financial statistics, data management information to produce board reports for senior staff. Make available all information for year-end and audit
  • Reconciling the inter-company management charges
  • Reconciling accruals, prepayments and retentions
  • Creating spreadsheets and other tools to assist in information gathering
  • Producing and reconciling the Group VAT returns
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Paying creditors accounts
  • Credit control
  • Overseeing the companies credit cards
  • Developing the accounting procedures and undertake training as necessary


  • Maintaining employee records and the Company handbook
  • Employee expenses and P11d submissions
  • Administering the pay plan scheme and paying wages/salaries
  • Administering the Group’s NEST pension scheme
  • Maintaining the employees’ holiday diary


  • Overseeing the purchase ledger, providing support and internal training
  • Company cars/vans - including sourcing, arranging leases, insuring and break down cover
  • CIS recording and submissions to HMRC
  • Liaising with the insurance company to maintain adequate and appropriate cover
  • Liaising with the sales team, manufacturing, the purchasing team and clients to ensure efficient and effective communication
  • ISO management
  • Supporting the sales team processing web order enquiries
  • Attending and contributing to meetings and conferences to assist in developing strategy and policy

Key Qualifications and experience

  • Ideally qualified to ACA/CIMA/ACCA level with prior experience working in a contracting/manufacturing environment

  • Well organised with an ability to multi-task and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Excellent attention todetail
  • Ability to react quickly to changing demands
  • Excellent communicationskills
  • Able to work as a team player and be accountable for the performance of the department.

Knowledge of the following software would be an advantage:

  • Winman
  • Sage 50payroll
  • Excel/Word/Access
