Cathedral Appointments is looking for an experienced and competent Events Manager to join a much loved and well-respected organisation based in the beautiful Torbay area of the South West. Renowned for their high-profile events and community engagement, they operate numerous highly successful events throughout the year. You will be responsible for developing and managing the overall event strategy to ensure that events are successful, well attended and supported, engaging and effective. Acting very much as an ambassador for the brand, you will be responsible for ensuring events are exciting, fresh and appropriate to the wider aims and profile of the organisation. 

Events Manager responsibilities include...

  • Develop an exciting and current fundraising strategy in order to meet income targets
  • Plan, manage and implement all aspects of the company’s events
  • Continually research and identify new event opportunities
  • Check that all events comply with the relevant legislations
  • Create all health and safety documents
  • Oversee all communications to event participants and team members
  • Manage third party suppliers, developing great relationships
  • Ensure that there are effective and efficient administration processes in place
  • Maintain an accurate database of client and customer information 

Events Manager requirements include...

  • Previous events and project management experience is essential
  • A real people person, able to build rapport with ease and engage with a broad range of people
  • First class written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice
  • Great IT skills, particularly MS Office
  • Experience of managing budgets, staff and volunteers
  • Strong time management skills, able to prioritise changing workloads
  • A creative and imaginative approach to opportunities, passionate about the sector
  • Able to attend evening and weekend events as needed
  • Own car is essential for traveling around the area and attending events

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a passionate team of people, and work alongside the Marketing and Communication team to gain maximum publicity for the events that you are running. The successful candidate will have demonstrable event management experience with a clear understanding of relevant legislation and codes of practice. You will have the support of a team of professionals and specialists to ensure successful planning and delivery of your events, however you will ultimately be responsible for the planning, coordination and management of all elements of each event.
