Electronics Engineering Technician

The technician is being added to the established electronics department to help provide electronics engineering support to engineering and production departments.

Reporting to the production manager on a day to day basis but serving as part of a matrix of support services to engineering function the technician will carry out a variety of tasks throughout product life cycles being based at the company’s production facility.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the engineering and development function by building prototypes, test fixtures and lab equipment from rough sketches or plans.
  • Provide product support both internally and externally.
  • Contribute to continuous product improvement by fault-finding and repairing customer returns and production failures.
  • Fabricate parts using bench lathes, drills or other machine tools.
  • Manage and maintain the laboratory space, facilities and equipment in Bampton such that it provides an efficient working environment for electronics and other engineering activities.
  • Perform product testing to evaluate and compare performance, providing clear written reports and results data.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • An ability to read, understand and interpret schematic diagrams, PCB layouts and wiring diagrams.
  • Circuit rework including surface-mount devices and wiring practices.
  • Willingness to learn in depth about our products, their design and their use.
  • High level of practical ability and competence.
  • Ability to interpret rough sketches and basic requirements without needing explicit instructions and specification for every step.
  • Minimum HND/HNC in electronics and electrical engineering.
  • Preferably apprentice served.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience post apprenticeship in similar role.
