DevOps Engineer/Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer to join an established business based in Exeter. The successful candidate will manage a team responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring and capacity planning. The role requires the successful candidate to lead the company’s architectural decisions while managing risk by ensuring that the team are compliant with relevant regulatory procedures and guidelines.  

DevOps Engineer/Manager responsibilities include...

  • Designing, writing, and delivering software to improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of the company’s services.
  • Solving problems relating to mission critical services and building automation to prevent problem recurrence. Aiming to automate responses to all non-exceptional service conditions.
  • Participating in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
  • Ensuring that the team operate within allocated resources, budget requirements, and relevant regulatory principles.
  • Motivating, coaching, supervising, and training the Site Reliability Engineering Team and ensuring that training records are maintained.
  • Implementing internal and external audit requirements.
  • Ensuring Systems, Controls and process maps for the team are up-to-date, accurate and amend as and when required and create new ones for any new procedures. 

DevOps Engineer/Manager requirements include...

Experience Required:

  • Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure Architecture.
  • Able to design technical solutions, with expertise in designing, analysing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in at least one of: C♯, C++, Java, Python, SQL. 
  • Familiar with running web services at a large scale. Must understand Unix/Windows systems internals and networking, from kernel to shell and beyond, taking in system libraries, file systems, and client protocols along the way.
  • Knowledge of networking and network theory, along with knowledge and management of databases (specifically on SQL Server and Mongo).
  • A systematic approach to problem solving, with a strong sense of ownership and drive.
