This is very much a forward-thinking business and as such, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the newest technologies available. They are now looking for a Database Administrator, due to promotion, to join their team of leading IT and technical professionals.

Database Administrator responsibilities include...

Database administration

  • Manage a number of databases and associated storage infrastructure (both local and cloud based) to ensure all systems function as required including replication, clustering and other fault/tolerant/fault resistant configurations.
  • Perform data management tasks using common ETL tools and SQL implementations.
  • Investigate client requirements for application and infrastructure changes, design and implement appropriate solutions

Systems development

  • Regularly monitor and analyse databases and associated systems to ensure they are fit for purpose and for future planned capacity and functionality.
  • Provide input on Technical Architecture in order to continuously improve all elements of the business infrastructure.
  • Analyse dataset metadata to define optimum storage and management requirements.
  • Conduct development and implementation tasks for systems including project planning, analysis, designing, designing, programming, testing and debugging.

Database and system support

  • Ensuring the smooth functioning of the infrastructure; liaising with application support, developers, project managers, suppliers and other analysts.
  • Supporting in responding to users calls, diagnosing and deciding on appropriate solutions.

Database Administrator requirements include...


  • At least 8 years’ experience in a technical support and design role
  • In-depth experience in technical support encompassing varying hardware and software
  • Experience of using common ETL tools and SQL to import and export data in various formats and structures.


  • Experience of administering Oracle databases; Oracle 11g/12c, Spatial, Performance tuning, Oracle Enterprise Manager, DataGuard
  • Experience of administering PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience of administering MS SQL server databases
  • Windows and Linux Operating Systems administration skills

To be considered for this role ideally you will have previous experience in this field including administering either Oracle, PostgreSQL or MS SQL databases. If you have an Oracle accreditation, SQL Server MCSA or similar it would be beneficial. It is essential that you have experience of using common ETL (extract, transform, load) tools and SQL to import and export data in various formats and structures. If you have experience in managing business intelligence systems and providing help-desk style technical support to customers it would be highly advantageous.
