Cathedral Appointments have a fantastic opportunity for an experience Costs Manager to join our client’s firm based in Taunton. As Costs Manager, you will assist with the management and development of the Practice's Costs Department by managing its team members. You will also provide a cost drafting and legal costs support service to the Practice.

Job Description

·           Managing the members of the Costs Department, reviewing existing systems and procedures, providing leadership, managing individual workflow and providing feedback and training

·           Determining work to be sent out to external Costs Draftsmen

·           Keeping up to date with all developments in Costs Law and ensuring the team and Fee earners are kept informed of rule changes and case law

·           To advise Fee Earners and assist with all costs related matters, as appropriate

·           Dealing with own caseload as a Costs Draftsman, as per the Job Description for that role

·           Drafting Points of Dispute and negotiating on costs where our client loses a case and liaising with Insurer to keep them updated and to request they deal with payment

 

Costs Manager (Legal) requirements include...

Person Specification

Essential

Proven managerial experience

Bills drafting experience which will include, but not be limited to high value/multi track, personal injury and clinical negligence files as well as drafting points of dispute, drafting Points of Reply and negotiation

Experience of advocacy

Excellent interpersonal skills (both written and telephone)

Strong negotiating ability

Have proven IT skills and ability to adapt new technology

Self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team with a ‘can do’ attitude
