Cathedral Appointments are currently recruiting for a Conveyancing Assistant to join a busy local firm based in Exeter. This role would suit someone who has previous conveyancing experience and who is looking for a new challenge with a firm where they can stay and progress for years to come. The role will be supporting a Conveyancer and a busy, friendly team in the successful completion of residential property transactions.

Conveyancing Assistant responsibilities include...

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • To open and close files; order searches, raise enquiries and associated documentation
  • To ensure the validation and verification of client (and 3rd party) identification and financial information
  • Link post and other documents to files
  • To interface with clients, agents, lenders, solicitors and others as part of the transaction process
  • To use Land Registry portal, HMRC website and SDLT system to register and obtain key facts related to transactions
  • To order searches, raise enquiries and keep clients effectively updated on conveyancing process through appropriate correspondence
  • To comply with SRA and Lexcel regulation and standards, thereby helping to ensure a professional service to clients

Conveyancing Assistant requirements include...

Background & Skills:

  • A minimum of 12 months’ Conveyancing Assistant experience gained within a fast-paced environment
  • A good knowledge of the residential conveyancing process
  • Be self-organised, resilient and be able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Use effective interpersonal skills to work with a Conveyancer and maintain effective working relationships with other team members
  • Possess effective planning and prioritisation ability to be able to manage a caseload of work Be structured and systematic in approach
  • Have the ability to be able to effectively communicate with a diverse range of people – in writing, by telephone and face to face as required
  • Confidence in using required ICT packages and systems
