Commercial/Operations Manager (Wholesale) – this is a brand new role within the food service sector of a large organisation.  As Commercial/Operations Manager you will be responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in creating and delivering sales strategy for the Branch.  You'll play a fundamental role in enhancing profitable performance, developing future growth and providing vision, direction and leadership to your Teams.  

Commercial/Operations Manager (Wholesale) responsibilities include...

  • Ensure the effective day to day running of the site
  • Retain, recruit, select, train, coach, counsel and develop site teams
  • Implement the overall strategy for the site ensuring a defined structure is adopted and effective controls are implemented
  • Develop and agree budgets and targets for the business and ensure delivery against these objectives
  • Assist the Manager to motivate, coach and develop the site teams to achieve the goals and targets set
  • Coordinate inputs from procurement, marketing, sales and distribution to enable site objectives and stock functions to be controlled
  • Monitor progress against the annual sales plan and take action where necessary to ensure delivery
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the market sector trends, competitor activity and product lines
  • Maintain and enhance the Company image by collaborating with customers, suppliers and employees
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures and legislative requirements to ensure the legal operation of the site
  • Work with the Health and Safety Department to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of BRC, C.O.S.H.H, Health and Safety at Work Act, Risk assessments and Pest control
  • Ensure Site security arrangements are adequate to protect the business
  • In liaison with the Technical Department, establish and monitor Food Safety standards, environmental issues ensuring legislative requirements are met and the supplier base complies with legal and due diligence
  • Ensure quality control systems are in place
  • Oversee Site Audits and ensure progress against development areas to ensure Group compliance

Commercial/Operations Manager (Wholesale) requirements include...

  • Commercial / Operational management experience, ideally gained within a food environment
  •  Ability to manage and motivate a team of employees
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High influencing and negotiating skills
  • Customer and employee focused
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Strong leader, with experience in Performance Management and team motivation
  • Experienced in developing, achieving and exceeding relevant business objectives
  • PC literate
  • Personable, self-motivated, hardworking, confident, outgoing and professional with a sense of humour

My client’s business operates over 6 days per week and the successful Operations/Commercial Manager will be required to work 40 hours per week with a starting time of 6am, as well as 1 in 4 Saturdays.  My client is offering a competitive salary, plus company performance bonus, car allowance, life assurance and a share incentive scheme.
