CORE DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Reporting and Management Information

  • Preparation, review and analysis of the monthly accounts, ensuring the reporting to the Head of department. Accounts are on-time, accurate and relevant to the readers’ needs.
  • Responsibility for journals, management of accruals and provisions, and investigation of variances. This includes a strong understanding of key areas of spend.
  • Responsibility for monthly financial reporting Operational and Capital expenditure for the Senior Management teams and their direct reports.
  • Development and enhancement of financial management reporting considering both content and format and enabling "top down" and "bottom up" reporting that supports Executive and Management meetings.
  • Pro-active analysis of cost driver information and identification of cost efficiency opportunities.
  • Effective analysis and interpretation of data supported by professional communication to Management and other key stakeholders.
  • Responsibility for all journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the accounting records and financial systems.

Financial Control

  • Manage the budget and forecast timetables for all activities and ensure all relevant members of the business are fully aware of their responsibilities.
  • Ensuring robust financial controls are in place, operating costs and capital expenditure and invoicing non primary charges.
  • Review the end to end financial controls for, identifying and driving delivery of improvements.
  • Ensure consistency of reporting; approach, procedures and policy with the wider Finance Team.
  • Undertake regular reviews of the effectiveness of financial procedures and controls.

Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Support

  • Management and production of reports and financial models to meet the needs of the business.
  • Preparation and review of budgets, quarterly forecasts and business plans. Continued monitoring & review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the Board and third party stakeholders. Responsibility for inputting budgets and forecasts into financial systems.
  • Support the business units in achievement of each of their respective strategies and annual goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the delivery and monitoring of the commercial aspects of Partner contracts.
  • Work closely with the Contract Manager to ensure that all major contracts deliver financial performance in line with annual business.
  • Monitoring of contract performance and where there are variances from target investigate for reasons.
  • Attendance at meetings with internal managers and external contractors.

General

  • Liaison with external and internal auditors
  • Actively contribute to the development and delivery of the wider Finance Team and company objectives.
  • Lead a team to deliver the above; ensuring a consistent approach, minimisation of duplication, minimised single points of failure along with effective and concise data presentation and analysis.
  • Ensure impacts and risks arising from retail competition are understood and mitigated.
  • Work with the regulatory team to understand key regulatory issues that they may face.
  • Carry out any further tasks for which your qualifications & experience are suited as directed by the Company
  • Undertake financial appraisal of contract tender bids.
  • Responsibility for financial information on Company Annual Performance Reporting tables
  • Responsibility for Regulatory accounting assumptions & cost analysis.
