Due to continued growth in the region and client demand, our client is looking for an experienced Solicitor or Legal Executive to join their Agricultural Property team in Exeter.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to really make a difference and progress their career in a supportive environment. The team current support a wide range of clients in the local region as well as the larger national area which include farmers, landed estates, banks charities and investors. They also work closely with the wider Private Wealth, Commercial Property and Property Litigation teams.

Agricultural Property Solicitor responsibilities include...

  • An extremely talented, highly motivated team
  • Collaborative working with each other and other parts of the firm advising clients on all aspects of agriculture, rural issues, property law and transactions.
  • The opportunity of running your own matters as well as assisting Partners/Associates as part of client service teams on larger matters and transactions.
  • Exposure to lots of direct client contact and involvement in business development activities.
  • City quality work and training in a premier regional law firm

Agricultural Property Solicitor requirements include...

  • Proven technical knowledge - a sound understanding and practical application of the law and transaction process to agricultural and rural property work (including Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 and Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995). Some experience of dealing with high value rural residential property work would be a useful.
  • A sound understanding of the Basic Payment Scheme, environmental schemes, and European law.
  • A working knowledge of tax issues as they affect agriculture and rural businesses.
  • A sound understanding of agricultural and rural issues.
  • Commercial awareness and focus.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, including being a team player (both internally and with clients' other professional advisors) with the ability to work independently if required.
  • A genuine desire and interest in building client relationships.
  • A real appetite for learning and developing both your own and others' legal and business skills and knowledge of the rural economy.
  • A background in agriculture would be preferable but not essential.

We are looking for talented individuals, with a track record of working at a City firm or a highly regarded national or regional practice, with a sound reputation for agricultural and high value rural residential property matters. You will be highly motivated to work as part of this highly entrepreneurial, fast growing team.

This role is a full time, permanent position and the salary on offer will be dependent on level of experience but will be highly competitive. There is also generous holiday and additional company benefits.
