What does it mean to be an REC member?

Posted on September 04, 2017

The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) is the professional body for recruitment. If a recruitment agency is a member of the REC, they must adhere to the REC Code of Professional Practice, which goes far beyond statutory rules.

For example, Cathedral Appointments have committed to:

REC-Pic-3-4.png#asset:1756agreeing written contracts for all placements
REC-Pic-3-5.png#asset:1757safeguarding against discrimination

Becoming an REC member is not as easy as just signing up - we must pass a test to prove that we consistently meet these standards. Every two years, we are re-tested and must pass again to retain our valuable membership status. In fact, this year we scored 100% in the REC Compliance Test!

Ultimately, REC membership protects both agency workers AND employees. It provides both with recourse in case something goes wrong, and echoes our viewpoint on the importance of high standards!
