Cathedral Appointments Job Report - November 2017

Posted on December 13, 2017

  • Permanent placements and temp billings have both risen at strong rates
  • The availability of candidates has continued to decline sharply
  • Consistent demand for staff leads to further increases in pay

Staff Appointments Rise Further:
November date indicates that permanent staff placements have risen at the quickest rate in three months. This is the result of a strong underlying demand for new staff. UK recruitment agencies signalled an increase in the number of people placed into permanent roles for the SIXTEENTH consecutive month in November

Demand for Staff Continues to Grow:
Vacancies rose sharply for both permanent and temporary roles in November. Demand for staff remained much stronger across the private sector than the public sector.

Availability of Candidates Continues to Decline:
The South of England recorded the steepest decline in permanent labour supply in the UK!

A snapshot of the professionals in short supply:
• Accountants
• Payroll/paraplanners
• Business Analysts
• Electrical Engineers
• Legal professionals
• Software Developers
• Personal Assistants

Pay Pressures:
Average starting salaries for permanent job roles continued to increase in November. Data collected from agencies showed an overwhelming opinion that pay salary increases have been due to low candidate availability coupled with strong demand for staff.
