July's Report on Jobs

Posted on August 08, 2016

This is a summary of the key points from the latest Report on Jobs for July which is compiled by Markit and sponsored by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

·         Permanent placements fall at a steeper rate

·         While temp billings growth eases further

·         Permanent salaries rise at slowest rate in over three years

·         Candidate availability continues remains tight

Findings for July indicate a drop in permanent placements for the second month running. The temp billings continued rise although at a ten month low with the pay growth continuing to ease.

There is a further drop in candidate availability. The availability of candidates for permanent roles continued to fall in July. That said, the rate of decline eased to the slowest since October 2013. In some cases, panellists indicated that candidates were reluctant to move as a result of Brexit-related uncertainty. Permanent candidate availability fell across all monitored regions, with agencies based in the North reporting the sharpest decline. Here at Cathedral Appointments whilst we echo the findings in terms of permanent candidate availability, we have also seen a large number of vacancies registered across all divisions. With that in mind we are keen to hear from any candidates seeking their next move.
