Our Trainee Scheme

We are very pleased with the success we have had with our own Trainee Scheme. We have just appointed our fourth trainee and our second and third trainees are still with us in the roles of qualified and highly successful Consultants. Our first trainee, although no longer with us, still remains in contact, was very successful as a Consultant and although she left us a few years ago,  her billing record has only just been beaten this year!

Why is our trainee scheme so successful?  It is a structured and well planned scheme that takes into account everyone's strengths and weaknesses. The first month consists of induction, this involves spending time with each of our consultants and our administrator, learning how the computer systems and telephones work, sitting in on interviews, helping with the post - in fact observing every process that happens here in the office.

After completion of the induction, the trainee is then assigned to a Senior Consultant who will formally act as their Mentor for the next 9-12 months and informally after that for as long as is required. This is where the training begins in earnest and will involve screening cv's, learning to write adverts, company research, writing up interview notes, accompanying Senior Consultants on company visits, helping to prepare recruitment proposals and everything that a Qualified Consultant does, but under guidance. Regular reviews take place during the training period and external courses attended in a variety of subjects.

After 9 to 12 months, the Trainee is encouraged to start thinking about which division they would like to run and when it is felt that they are ready, they will be encouraged to take on that Division and start their life as a fully fledged Recruitment Consultant. They know what they are doing, their standards are high and they are effective from day one.
