Fewer people were out of work and claiming benefits in Devon in April, according to the latest figures.
The Office of National Statistics said 20,608 people were registered last month - 1,385 fewer than March.
The statistics include 10,158 people in the Devon county area, 6,776 in Plymouth and 3,674 in Torbay.
Although the number of claimants fell between March and April, the percentage of the population not working increased by 0.1% from 3.1% in April last year.
At 4.6%, Torbay had the highest percentage of population out of work last month while Plymouth had 3.9% and Devon had 2.2%.
In April 2011, Torbay's figure was 4.3%, Plymouth's was 3.8% and Devon was 2.1%
Nationally, the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance also fell by 13,700 to 1.59 million last month.
